The Rev. Ken Fleck, a longtime Catholic priest of Southwest Chicago churches, including St. George in Tinley Park, has a passion for growing giant pumpkins in the garden of his weekend home in Michigan City, where he spends his “semi-retirement.” His more recent vine-produced wonder is just a couple hundred pounds away from tipping the scales at one-half a ton, and it’s in need of home.

Potempa: Marriott Theatre’s ‘Gypsy’ run continues fable from iconic stage musical

What was originally titled “Gypsy: A Musical Fable” is now known by audiences in its shortened title form as just “Gypsy.” This musical with music by Jule Styne, lyrics by Stephen Sondheim, and a book by Arthur Laurents is loosely based on the 1957 memoirs of Gypsy Rose Lee, and focuses more on her mother, Rose, the latter whom is now forever associated with as the most pointed to example of a “stage mother.” Marriott Theatre has a new production of “Gypsy” now running through Oct. 15, 2023.
