New sessions of Grief Share start this month at Trinity Lutheran Church in Tinley Park, including a one-day seminar.

Tinley Park

Trinity Lutheran Church, 6850 W. 159th St.: One-day seminar of Grief Share from 1 to 7 p.m. Jan. 9 for anyone who has lost a spouse, child, parent, family member or friend to find hope and healing. Regular sessions of Grief Share also start Jan. 16 and are offered at 1 or 7 p.m. Tuesdays. Zoom sessions are set for 7:30 p.m. Wednesdays starting Jan. 17. Our Savior Lutheran Church, 8607 S. Narragansett Ave.: Our Savior’s Food Pantry from 9 to 11 a.m. Tuesdays and 1 to 3 p.m. Thursdays. Residents from any community who are experiencing food insecurity are welcome. Delivery is available when needed. Flossmoor Community Church, 2218 Hutchinson Road: January book discussion after worship Jan. 14 in the parlor. The group, led by Trina Hayes, will discuss “Dinosaurs: A Novel” by Lydia Millet, a finalist for the Pulitzer Prize. The book stars a man who moves to Arizona and becomes closer to nature and the family who lives next door. The novel offers a meditation on caring for ourselves, others and the world while celebrating love and connection. Information:

The Center, 12700 Southwest Highway: Awake at the Center: A Day of Mindfulness in the Out of Doors from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Jan. 13. The fee for the retreat is $65, which includes lunch and retreat supplies. Those looking for some peace after the stress of the holidays are welcome to the grounds of the Center to enjoy peaceful energy. It’s led by leaders of the Sunday morning mindfulness team. In the morning, participants can sit, walk, listen and share the beauty that abounds. The afternoon includes experiencing the healing sounds of crystal bowls. Christ Our Savior Parish, 880 E. 154th St.: Ministry of Care, which provides pastoral care to parishioners and their families who are “sick, elderly, homebound or experiencing a time of need.” Volunteer ministers have an initial period of training before bringing Holy Communion or visiting to residents in area assisted-living facilities, nursing homes and homebound people.
