Human remains discovered on CTA Blue Line train tracks near O’Hare International Airport halted rail service for about three hours Friday afternoon, authorities said.
Chicago police said a person was found unresponsive on the train tracks near Terminal Five at 3:27 p.m. The person was pronounced dead on scene, police said. Police said they were not able to identify the gender of the person.
On social media, the Chicago Transit Authority announced Blue Line trains were temporarily suspended due to a “medical emergency” at 3:23 p.m., with service finally resuming around 6:30 p.m.
The Cook County medical examiner’s office had not identified the victim as of Friday evening. An autopsy was scheduled for Saturday.
Police said they were investigating.
