The Trojans travel to Eugene to take on the Ducks on Saturday night in a game that could determine the champion of the conference.
Washington is still undefeated in the conference and thus has a commanding lead but the winner of this matchup will likely face off against the Huskies in the Allegiant Stadium championship.
The Trojans have struggled on defense this year, but they’ve been able to secure several wins by simply outscoring their opponents. That is less likely to work against a squad like the Ducks.
In the five conference wins, Oregon has only given up more than 20 points once, to Washington State and they’ve only allowed opponents to score more than 20 twice in all of their eight wins. The Ducks’ defense has tackled well, chased down QBs and run through receivers across the country all season.
To the Trojans credit, they have good weapons on the outside but the way the Ducks’ secondary has played, they’ll have their work cut out for them.
USC’s offense has been doing most of the heavy lifting and they’ll need the defense to step up if they hope to win.
Overall, the Ducks are a 15 point home favorite with the absurd total of 73.5. Both teams can clearly score but that’s a wide spread, even for the faults on the Trojan defense. Bet on USC to beat the spread in Eugene.
