How to wager on Thursday
Philadelphia 76ers (+187) vs. Milwaukee Bucks (-227)
Giannis and his new Bucks teammate Damian Lillard face off against Joel Embiid for the season opener Thursday night.
Embiid will be on his own for this one as the 76ers told Harden to stay home after the trade demand this summer. While that doesn’t guarantee a Milwaukee win here, Embiid is very capable of dominating a game for 48 minutes, it will certainly make it harder. Especially on defense.
Lillard is a one of the best scorers of our generation and he’ll undoubtedly come out shooting with some new energy, being on a new team for the first time in his career.
It’s likely that the 76ers will have Pat Beverley switching on and off of Dame but Lillard still has an inch or more on him. Additionally, Dame has averaged a very solid 22.5, 6.3 assists and 4.1 rebounds in 27 games against Beverley, according to StatMuse.
With the added offensive weapons for the Bucks, the 76ers will have their hands full in this one. Do you rotate over on the pick and roll and leave Middleton in the corner for a three? Do you stay one on one and let Giannis rip to the hoop for a jam?
It’s early yet, but this Bucks team will be formidable for any squad but with the added issues for the Sixers, they could be in for a long night.
Milwaukee is a 6.5 point favorite in this home opener with a 227 point total. The Bucks are a solid bet on the moneyline here. However, if you’re looking for a prop, try Dame on the over. Most books have him at 26.5 for this one, which he’ll likely exceed in the first game with his new team.
