Chicagoland celebrated Thanksgiving through community dinners, Turkey Trot and the annual Thanksgiving parade. Communities offered Thanksgiving dinners to migrant families who are celebrating the holiday for the first time. Pro-Israel supporters and runners honored the hostages with missing-persons posters of individuals who were taken hostage on Oct. 7, 2023. And Chicago’s Thanksgiving Parade, which began in 1934 to “help lift the spirits of residents suffering through the Great Depression,” according to its website, brought thousands of spectators together.
